    Rear main seal

The rear main seal on my 1948 CJ is leaking bad but seems a few drips while running but when I shut it down it was literally pouring down in a steady stream and then steady drips until it finally stoped....... I bought a new neoprene seal from Kaiser Willys, any advise is appreciated .....Thanks

Steve, Let us know how it goes. Lube up the new seal to help slip it in behind the crank. I have had the best luck loosening all the main caps slightly. One of the biggest places they leak is at at the two side seals on the main cap to block and pan. The service manual is helpful somewhat here.
