1948 Willy Truck Vin #

1948 Jeep Truck I bought this with a regular title, not a state issued for rebuild
Question is, I can not find anything even close to this Vin # when searching

Any input is appreciated

VIN numbers didn't come until much later with Kaiser and American motors owning the Jeep brand. The serial number breaks down as such.

4= 4X4, T= Truck, 17904= serial number as built in 1948. 1948 production serial numbers= 12347 to 33304, for a total of 20957.

The tag is put on with pop rivets so I suspect it is an aftermarket tag, the originals were screwed on.

The original '48 tags looked a lot like this one.

I had this artwork made from the remains of the original tag from the '48 and KWAS has them - I sell Mike about 15 or 20 a year.

(Just be careful not overload your truck and void the warranty.)
