It looks like you're going to learn a lot more about the innards of that transmission and transfer case than most people want to know. BMorgil (Doc Dana) knows more about that little box than just about anyone, all the tricks and do's and don'ts getting it apart and back together.

The '48 truck has always had a tendency to hang up on the shift from first to second. It did it for my Dad in 1960 and even after two tries at rebuild during the restoration, it still does. I suspect someone doesn't know what to look for when they look at synchronizers and I can live with it as it is - I just don't go places where I have to speed shift from low to second.
