    New to Forum

    Good Afternoon everyone!

I have been reading the forum for quite some time and this is my first official post. My name is "FlyJeep" because I have two hobbies: Flyfishing and working on my Jeep.

3 years ago, I bought a 1957 jeep as a learning project to just learn some new things. I am not a first rate mechanic or body guy, but I do my best and all the work you see in the photo have been done by me. I've replaced everything in the engine that is bolted on and my source has always been Kaiser Willys, I haven't bought anything from anyone else....alttle brand loyalty I guess, I just find it easy to use.

I do have a question...I would like to put the old Canvas seats in the jeep. I could go just have the seats re-done by a shop or I could put in new frames and get new cushions, ect. If I wanted to do new frames and cushions, do I have any options? I don't/can't weld or have any cutting tools to do any modifications....

I know many of you have been doing this much longer than I....I'll sit back and respectfully listen to your advice. Here is a picture of the Jeep.

I agree with Az, nice looking Jeep! I had great success on my '50 with the canvas from KW. https://www.kaiserwillys.com/categor...overs-cushions I called Mike up and ordered Tan and they were perfect. Do you need frames or just covers? I also bought a rear seat frame from them and it was a nice part.

Everything for the seats can be bought through the popular Willys parts stores. My Jeep only has the bottom half of the frames. It had captains seats out of a van or something that I hauled to the dump. I welded a boat seat to the drivers frame just so I could drive it. The parts are a little pricey for my wallet. I think it was near $1500 dollars to do the front seats with new everything.

thanks, I just need covers. On my CJ, the original seats are still there, the previous owner put some home made seat covers on it. If I hear you right, I can call up Mike and just get some canvas covers for the CJ5? if so, that is the way to go I think. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

1500 is a bit pricey for sure, I have been looking around thinking I'd get lucky on some used. the seats are the last part of the major things I had to do. everything after the seats are going to be a "want, wish list type of thing"...for example, I want to get an old military ratio to install in the back to....all one big conversation piece that drives.

Very nice. It could well be an M38A1 from the first look at the exterior. Very nice, indeed.
