    Parking brake cable

Does anyone have a diagram showing the routing of the parking brake on the transfer case up to the handle.

I looked through my photos and didn't have a clear picture of the parking brake cable routing, but the basic idea is that it runs from the brake assembly to the transfer case crossmember then up along the body gusset. Then it turns into the firewall to the brake handle. There are two clamps that hold the cable in place, with one being on the crossmember and the other at the gusset to prevent the cable from pinching. The diagram below shows another up under the dash, right before it terminates at the brake handle. I do not recall mine havening that clamp, but I could be mistaken.

gmwillys, the KW link you posted doesn't appear to exist any more. If you have any pull with the KW folks, can you see if this can be reposted or an image be posted here. The Hot Mess and I thank you.

See if this photo helps at all. gm has described the path the cable takes pretty well.

There is a link to the service manuals here in the forum:

Here is a link to see if it helps to visualize the routing. Bmorgil's attachment from the service manual should get you the rest of the way.

Thanks guys! Yes, GM had a good description of the routing, but I've been struggling with this and a couple other things for a while now.
I have the same illustration from the Universal Manual, but the section describing the assembly was literally two sentences and routing isn't part of that. I suppose I would have figured it out, but always prefer to work smart, not hard. Hence, I ask a lot of questions and really appreciate all the feedback.

GM, the CJ2A link was excellent and the pics in it really helped. The cliche of a picture being worth a thousand words is truly understated.

You go about it the same way I do David. Gather every drop of info I can find, sort the "chiff from the chaff" and go for it well informed.
